From our friends at Jensen Motor Boat

Dear NMTA members,

I writing this with hope that I might be able to enlist you in the search for my stolen property. Specifically, my bike was stolen from Jensen Motorboat around October 22.  Over the next two weeks we had two other burglaries at the yard resulting in the loss of a customer's small 6 hp mercury 2012  outboard and fuel tank and a bunch of hand tools belonging to one of our painters.  I have filed a report with SPD, talked to Harbor Patrol, and a Detective from UW campus safety has been assigned to the case.

A week after it was stolen a guy named John brought my bike  into  Recycled Cycles (just down the street!) twice and bought accessories - aero bars, phone holster, fenders- and talked with just about everyone in the store and so they are all keeping an eye out for him to return.  He has a pit bull named Hey Girl and he bought a pale blue Cal 20 (see attached pics, WN4982NW?? hard to read) from the UW's Waterfront Activities Center (WAC) around the same time of the thefts.  The attached pic shows him leaving the WAC docks on his new boat with my bike on the bow and perhaps the stolen motor and tank on the transom.  The guy who sent me the pic thinks he was homeless so I've been looking around the lake and ship canal but he obviously could  have left the city for Eagle Harbor, Vashon, PT..who knows.  The story he told everyone at Recycled was that he wanted to get the boat back to Portland.  SPD says to call 911 if he's spotted.  Harbor Patrol says to call them if it's on the water, 684-4071.

The bike is a gold Bianchi Volpe. I covered up all of the labeling (names, Italian flag etc.) with retro-reflective tape after Bianchi refused to send a sponsorship check (HaHa!) so it looks like there are large black rectangles and small diamonds on the frame, though I guess they could have been pulled off.  Other items on the bike at the time:  a really nice vertical red led tail light, pannier rack, front light, Specialized saddle, new Vittoria rear tire with reflective sidewall, 34t (large) cog in the cassette, small computer, double taped handlebars, rear skewer forging for towing a trailer.  SN is on file with the cops.  Feel free to forward this on.

Thanks for looking,
Dave Thacker
