DOL changes to titling system - what you need to know


What’s happening?

Starting September 4, 2018, customers will be required to use their legal name as it appears on the driver licensing record.

Who will be affected?

Customers applying for a title or initial registration.

What’s the impact?

Title applications that do not include the customer’s legal name could require additional documentation and/or result in the transaction being rejected.


What this means for you?

When completing application for title enter the customer’s name as it appears on their driver license. We will not accept common nick-names e.g. Joe vs. Joseph. If the name is different than the driver licensing record, DOL will request a name change document prior to issuing title.
