Coast Guard system down last month creates delay with vessel application submissions

The Coast Guard system and research was down this past week and is currently running about three weeks behind according to Pacific Maritime Title.

“The system has been fixed, but unfortunately, there was no way to easily remedy other issues with application submissions,” said Christina G. Washuburn, the director of the United States Coast Guard who recognizes the impact of this delay and are working diligently to return to normal processing times.

The issues with a system upgrade the week of Oct. 29 with application processing for Abstracts of Title, Renewals, Priority Requests, Deletions, Certificates of Ownership and Commercial work had led to this three-week delay from the time of submission.

“To ensure nothing is overlooked, we must manually review each packet submitted during the affected timeframe,” Washburn said. “We have a commitment from the OSC (Operations Systems Center), who supports our system.”

Those with questions are asked not to contact the Coast Guard directly or it could lead to further delays and issues. Please get in touch with Pacific Maritime Title by going to their web page at http://www.pacificmaritimetitle.com/contact.html.
