3 Appointed to Fill Positions on NMTA Board of Trustees

SEATTLE – June 30, 2016 – The Northwest Marine Trade Association (NMTA) has announced the appointment of three open positions on its Board of Trustees.

New to the board are Paul Sorensen, BST Associates, and Alex Sutter, Fisheries Supply Company. Scott Anderson, CSR Marine, was re-elected to a new term.

Sorensen currently works as principal at BST Associates, which he founded in 1986. Most of BST’s work is related to waterfront development projects in which they analyze demand, financial performance and economic impact and prepare business plans for public and private sector clients.

“I am a strong supporter of the NMTA and feel that I can help guide efforts to grow marine business in Washington state,” he said.

Sutter oversees operations as Vice President of Fisheries Supply Company. Previously, Sutter was a business attorney who focused on negotiating transactions as well as advising executives and directors on governance and corporate business matters.

“My experience running Fisheries Supply provides me insights into trends in our local and national boating communities that could prove useful to the board’s decision-making process,” he said. 

Anderson, with over 30 years of marine industry experience, returns for a second term on the Board of Trustees. He previously chaired the NMTA Boatyard Committee and also serves as a Board member for the Footloose Sailing Foundation and is a recent member of the Puget Sound Maritime Historical Society.

“Over the years, I have met and worked with a large segment of the recreational marine group, from brokers to end users, as well as other repair professionals,” he said. “I have developed an understanding of the issues and the concerns of this group and will be able to assist NMTA to make appropriate decisions to enhance and grow the marine industry here in Washington.”
